IPA CIS confirms that it will observe upcoming elections in Azerbaijan

IPA CIS confirms that it will observe upcoming elections in Azerbaijan

Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has sent a letter of invitation to the chairwoman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS Valentina Matvienko on participation in the preparation for and the observation of the parliamentary elections to be held in Azerbaijan on Nov.1.

Representatives of the IPA CIS traditionally have been observing the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan since 1995. And prior to that, the mission had observed the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

The IPA will create and send an observation mission to Azerbaijan, consisting of parliamentarians, the Secretariat of the Council and of the International Institute of Monitoring Democracy Development and Parliamentarianism.

Observers will take part in the election process at polling stations in capital Baku as well as in regions and foreign countries.
