Political idiocy of the European Parliament
Yesterday European Parliament “fired” its next resolution on Azerbaijan, head of the department on work with law-enforcement bodies of Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Alasgarov said.

The analysis of previous activities of this organization, which is always keen to stamp out this kind of texts, suggests that this resolution was expected. “Interest” of European Parliament towards Azerbaijan usually reaches its peak on the eve of important international and local events.

It was like that in the eve of “Eurovision”, first ever European Games and it is happening now in the eve of parliamentary elections. European Parliament is only one small section of pressure mechanism by which several western circles are trying to suppress states which are pursuing independent and sound policy.

This fact has been long time that didn’t create a doubt for anybody and therefore yesterday’s document should exactly be reviewed from this perspective.

Usually, all resolutions on Azerbaijan are prepared by same group of people. Deputies such as Warwick Lunachek, Maria Shaake, Katy Piri and Anna Gomesh are always participating in the “discussions” of these resolutions. By the way, these discussions are generally last for 20 minutes.

These deputies appear as guides and implementers of anti-Azerbaijan strategy in the Euro parliaments.

Unsurprisingly, such `valued` cadres were easily involved in the staff of this organization. Their services continue to be in demand for the dirty affairs of this organization.

The resolution itself was drafted according to old prescription – everything included narrow-mindedness, falsification and obvious lies. Thus the authors of the resolution, without embarrassment, politicized murder of the journalist Rasim Aliyev.

This is an outrageous crime. Everyone knows in our country that it was committed on daily grounds.

However, the authors of that resolution forgot to mention, suspects were arrested and a painstaking criminal investigation is underway.

The authors also complain about the resolution that the government interferes with the European Union quietly handing out grants in Azerbaijan.

Nevertheless, they ignore the reality that those holding grants, supposedly given to support the civil society, have always been a very narrow group of “trusted persons”.

Tens millions of euros used to be circulated via this corrupted mechanism, whereas the major part of used to disappear mysteriously.

These selected grant holders merely ignored the legal requirements and thereby many violations of law had been detected. Besides, lack of transparency in their activities pushed the law-enforcement bodies to make valid legal claims.

Naturally, this reality has also not been reflected in the resolution.

Instead, `bad health condition` of Leyla Yunus and `prosecuted political party leaders` has been reflected on the document, though the same doctors mentioned in the document said the health condition of Leyla Yunus to be stable. On the other hand, they forgot to mention the names of those mythic party leaders.

Apotheosis of hypocrisy and blatant demonstration of pro-Armenian position become paragraphs of the resolution in which the European Parliament calls on the Azerbaijani execution of all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, including the decision of 16 June 2015, and regrets the fact that the Azerbaijani government "puts obstacles between civil society groups, youth activists and intellectuals from Armenia and Azerbaijan, which are extremely important for overcoming long-standing hostility between the two countries.

Initiators of this resolution deliberately did not mention that the decision on 16 June 2015 – is a decision on the case of “Sargsyan against Azerbaijan”.

Our country is required to execute the decisions made in favor of an Armenian citizen, while nobody requires Armenia to execute the decisions, taken on the same day-June 16, on the Chiragov’s case and other citizens.

Members of the European Parliament are not even concerned by the fact that the European Court, whose decisions they attach so much importance, since January this year, does not accept a complaint filed on behalf of our citizens Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev taken by Armenians as hostages, and on behalf of relatives of Hasan Hasanov who was murdered by Armenians.

Even it got to such a point, that deputy from Italy Laura Ajea, who has Armenian cores, accused Azerbaijan of not only “fighting against all forms of democracy”, but also “concentrating Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh on an instant fire”!

Because of such vicious manipulations Azerbaijan has been suffering from an aggression for more than two decades, at the same time has been being presented as an aggressor.

Contrarily, Armenia engendered millions of refugees and internally displaced people, but it has been being introduced as an innocent victim.

Thus, Armenian lobby is trying to propagate the idea of groundlessness of Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno Karabakh in European society through Laura Ajea.

Proposing a thesis on the importance of ending a profound hostility between Armenia and Azerbaijan those people merely endeavor to strengthen the Armenian occupation in Nagorno Karabakh and surrounding Azerbaijani territories.

We are rejected to claim the right, which each state could enjoy to restore its territorial integrity by force! So far went the joint goals of pro-Armenian groups and betrayers of the national interests! Although such dirty methods do not cause any surprise.

It is related to the ideas of democracy and human rights as a tool for imposing its will caused humanitarian crisis in Europe. The desire to bring democracy through "humanitarian bombing", chaos, destruction, mass murder prompted hundreds of thousands of refugees to leave the destroyed homes and seek refuge in a prosperous "cradle of democracy", where the champions of human rights to give them a real genocide.

Thus, the argument of human rights violations in the mouths of these pseudo-democrats is a very selective weapon. It is unlikely that we will ever hear condemnation of police brutality and racism in the United States at the session of the European Parliament or call for sanctions in connection with the "politically motivated" murder American journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward.

The message of authors of this resolution, no matter how obvious, is absurd - to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the energy sector is mutually beneficial, but in respect of its officials it is needed to impose sanctions; European foreign economic service should develop a dialogue with Azerbaijan in the field of human rights, but should refrain from any action to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections.

It should be noted that during the EP sessions, there were reasonable deputies who sounded statements supporting the current dialog between the EU and Azerbaijan. Also, their statements were free from bias and double standards imposed by certain political circles. More than 200 deputies voted against adoption of the resolution, more than 70 abstained.

Unfortunately, there were not enough votes for the deputies of the European Parliament to prevail over political pragmatism and constructive approach.

Finally, the authors of the resolution had the audacity to remind others of `the need` of sending a parliamentary delegation to Azerbaijan for dialogue on critical issues such as human rights and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as soon as possible.

In light of yesterday`s clear demonstration of political idiocy and tendentious anti-Azerbaijani and pro-Armenian position, it appears that the delegation of the European Parliament must not only be allowed closer to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but also we should discuss the question of participation of our country in the Eastern Partnership and Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Despite any pressures our government will continue its independent foreign and domestic policies aimed at comprehensive development and protection of the interests of the Azerbaijani people.
