Head of the Press Service Department of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Aykhan Hajizada has commented on the statement of Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani regarding the possible reopening of the Azerbaijani Embassy.
Hajizada noted that a number of contacts have been recently made between Azerbaijan and Iran. He said that the talks held between the two foreign ministers featured a detailed exchange of views on the well-known situation between the two countries.
“As for the resumption of the work of our embassy in Iran, which ceased its activities in January this year due to a terrorist attack, we note that Azerbaijan is waiting for the completion of the investigation in connection with the terrorist attack. Perpetrators and masterminds of the terrorist act must be held accountable, and punished in the most severe way. The Azerbaijani side must be sure that there are conditions for the safe operation of the Embassy and that Iran provides full guarantee in this regard," Hajizada emphasized.
