Jafar Guluzadeh, chief of cross-border cooperation department at the Organization of Customs Control Head Department, reported at the meeting with journalists at the newly launched checkpoint. He informed that the customs station has the capacity to serve 550 trucks, 1000 passenger vehicles, and 30 buses a day in both directions.
The new checkpoint offers a variety of advantages as per the reforms carried out in the customs system across the country, such as TAM customs clearance centre, drivers being able to present their documents without leaving their vehicles, and a one-stop shop for passport control and customs registration.
The checkpoint will also provide X-ray scanning of heavy-duty trucks and terminals for storage and parking.
‘As Azerbaijan transforms into an international transport hub, the customs control services must also continuously keep up in development and improvement across the country’, Guluzadeh noted, ‘Customs Checkpoints are the main components on the transport corridor’.
