Thousands have taken to the streets of the Hungarian capital to demonstrate against the Prime Minister Viktor Orb
The crowd marched across Budapest city centre along the river Danube to the Parliament building.

The protest, organised by civil rights groups and opposition parties, reject Orbán’s hard line stance against asylum seekers.

“My conscience did not let me stay at home doing nothing. This is my contribution, the minimum I can can do to finally stop this maltreatment of asylum seekers,” said one young woman.

“I am a foreigner, living in Hungary for 7 years.I am a migrant. A legal one, because I was lucky.I came here today to demonstrate my solidarity to those poor refugees. They have received inhuman treatment from the government,“explained an Englishman in Hungary.

Our correspondent in Budapest is Gergely Bártfai:“The demonstrators sent a message to Europe and the world. The message, not to mistake Hungarians, for the Hungarian government. They say Viktor Orbán’s policies are against European values and Hungarian national interests.”
