President: We do not need such values
"We will protect our country."

See what terrible events are going on in Europe. What sufferings the poor people that escape from war are going through. Are these the European values? Are these the same principles they have been talking about for many years? Where is their tolerance? Where is their multiculturalism? Where is charity and mercy? We do not see it. We see the hostile attitude based on religious and national ground, discrimination, xenophobia, Islamophobia, fascism, racism.

According to Oxu.Az, the statement came from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who spoke at the meeting with teachers and pupils of secondary school No 148 of the Sabunchu district of Baku.

According to the head of state, some seek to apply these values in Azerbaijan.

"We do not need such values. The current crisis in the European space is a moral crisis, a moral tempest. European values do not seem as they describe them. We do not see it. Therefore, the world is changing today, the international law is violated, some circles show their real face. They cannot hide their real face anymore," the president said.

Ilham Aliyev said that morality, patriotism, dignity and national pride are the national values of Azerbaijan.

"These are our values and we will protest them. We give and will continue to give the decent response to campaigns against us. No external force can influence our will and turn us from the way of independence and freedom.

We need to defend our country and the choice of the Azerbaijani people. We have chosen development, progress, stability, good will and mercy. These are the values of Azerbaijan. The values we speak of and see in life," the head of state said.

He expressed confidence that all the tasks facing the country will be implemented successfully.

"We have a will, strong economic potential and independent policy," the head of state said.
