The one-on-one and expanded meetings of the chiefs of staff were held as part of the visit, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told AzVision.az.
Valiyev informed the guests about Azerbaijan’s historic victory in the second Karabakh war under the leadership of Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, the significance of local anti-terrorism measures in the Karabakh region in September 2023.
While speaking about large-scale reforms in the army, he noted the importance of the ongoing work on the use of new technologies in cybersecurity.
The admiral noted the wide opportunities for expanding military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy and emphasized the importance of mutual visits in the development of bilateral relations.
The need for further expansion of military ties between Azerbaijan and Italy based on strategic partnership was emphasized at the meeting. The sides discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the military, military-technical, military-educational and other spheres, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
