"Journalists can easily embed any Facebook and Instagram post in their coverage by simply selecting and copying the post’s embed code. Newsrooms can integrate Signal APIs [application programming interfaces] to feed curated content onto their websites and into their broadcasts," Mitchell said in a Thursday post.
"Using location-tag and topic-related search functionality, journalists can search Instagram for public posts related to specific hashtags, associated with specific public accounts, or tagged with locations using an interactive global map," he explained.
Signal users will be able to create collections of Facebook posts and Instagram images and videos for later use and sharing, particularly with their broadcasting teams.
The tool is available to journalists at no cost. According to Mitchell, Facebook will continue to gather feedback in order to improve the tool’s effectiveness.
