Arab League supports withdrawal of PKK from Turkey
League of Arab States: Withdrawal of PKK militants from Turkey contributes to region`s security
The withdrawal of militants belonging to the terrorist Kurdistan Workers` Party (PKK) from Turkey`s territory will contribute to security in the region, an official representative of the League of Arab States in Turkey, Mohamed Al-Fatah El-Nasir told.

According to Nasir, the League of Arab States closely follows the development of the situation in Turkey.

The withdrawal of the militants from Turkey meets the interests of both parties, both the Turkish and Kurdish nations.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the European Union.

Earlier, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Beshir Atalay said that the country will continue its efforts for PKK militants to leave Turkey.
According to him, the militants` departure from the country is currently a priority for Ankara.
Previously, imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan urged members of the organization to lay down their arms and leave Turkey.

Turkish authorities promised to create conditions for a safe withdrawal of all PKK militants who surrendered.
PKK militants began to leave Turkey on May 8.

According to the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinch, nearly 2,000 militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers` Party (PKK) were in Turkey and some 20 per cent of them have already left the country`s territory.
