Armenian PM says signing peace treaty with Azerbaijan soon is real

The signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan soon is real, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the Ministerial Meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries, AzVision.az reports.

"Armenia is ready to take effective and concrete steps to open communications in the region. Borders with Türkiye and Azerbaijan have been closed for more than 30 years, and today, we talk and discuss a lot about the possibility of opening transport communications in the region," the Prime Minister said.

Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is ready to restore the railway communications with Azerbaijan but also to build new ones: "In particular, the matter is about the route to connect the Gazakh with the Tavush district of Armenia and the western part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan. This communication can also be ensured from the northern direction."

"We demonstrate the same readiness for the opening of railways and roads with Türkiye," he said.

According to him, the opening of communications will not only have a significant impact on the region but will also strengthen economic ties and solve global security issues.
