Despite being in a state of war with Armenia, according to her, Azerbaijan opened its doors to this family.
“Human rights activists from Georgia, who are close friends of mine, told me that Vahan Martirosyan and his family were in trouble and that Sargysan’s men had beaten them, causing his wife to lose her unborn baby. They seek permanent residence in Azerbaijan. I wasn’t able to respond to this request on my own. So I met with MP Azad Guliyev, thanks to whose efforts we got a positive response,” she said.
Vahan Martirosyan, head of the Intra-national Liberation Movement, together with his wife and underage child fled Armenia for Azerbaijan to seek political asylum to protect himself and his family.
For its activities, the opposition Intra-national Liberation Movement led by Martirosyan has faced prosecution from Armenian state authorities and different officials.
