Drug price regulation to cause some problems, says deputy minister
Elsever Aghayev: "We must not fear these problems and must continue our work"
Certainly, the regulation of drug prices will create some problems, Deputy Health Minister Elsever Aghayev told reporters on Sept.18.

“However, we must not fear these problems and must continue our work. We believe that a positive result will be achieved eventually,” the deputy minister said.

According to him, there are medicines whose prices have dropped several times following the decision of the Tariff (Price) Council.

"The main goal is that the drugs sold to the country`s population to be of high quality, and the price of drugs to be low. If the price of drugs is raised, of course, we`re not in favor of those drugs being in the market," he said.

Aghayev said that today 57 percent of the registered drugs in Azerbaijan’s pharmaceutical market are from Europe.

"26 percent are from the CIS countries, among them 12 percent from Russia, and a very small percentage from India and other Asian countries,” the deputy minister stressed.
