According to reports, at least eight people were killed and 37 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus crashed off a mountain highway in the central Nepal.
At least eight people were killed and 37 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus crashed off a mountain highway in the central Nepal, The Himalayan Times newspaper reported Saturday.

The bus veered off the road late Friday in Manthali Municipality, about 137 kilometers (85 miles) east of the country’s capital, Kathmandu, according to the news outlet.

The injured have been immediately transported to a local hospital, the newspaper said.

Road accidents involving buses that result in multiple casualties are a common occurrence in Nepal, where narrow and often poorly-maintained roads wind through steep mountains, while transport vehicles often require major repair.
