Belgian Police Begin Spot Border Checks to Stop Human Traffickers
Almost 2,000 migrants arrived in Belgium last week, according to Secretary of State for Asylum, Migration and Administrative Simplification Theo Francken.
On Monday Belgian police began carrying out spot checks to register undocumented immigrants in an attempt to prevent human traffickers from smuggling them, according to Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon.

Checks will be carried out across the country, with a focus on transport hubs and arteries like airports and trains, as well as near the borders, Jambon told RTL television Sunday. "It’s limited at present," he added.

Last week, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia tightened border controls in a bid to slow down the constant flow of refugees from Africa and the Middle East seeking asylum in Western Europe.
