Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, arrived at the Milli Majlis on a state visit to Azerbaijan, AzVision.az reports the information came from the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova welcomed Tokayev, who then toured the Milli Majlis meeting hall.
During their meeting, Chair Gafarova expressed her pleasure at welcoming the distinguished guest. She said the visit, along with President Tokayev's meetings and negotiations with President Ilham Aliyev, were followed closely in Azerbaijan. Gafarova emphasized the visit further strengthens the friendship and brotherhood between the two peoples and will contribute to expanding relations.
The discussion highlighted the common cultural and spiritual ties between the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples. These strong foundations, established since gaining independence, have allowed relations to flourish, reaching the level of strategic partnership and alliance.
Chair Gafarova elaborated on the relationship between the parliaments, emphasizing their mutual activity as a significant factor positively impacting bilateral and multilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Gafarova noted growing concerns in the world, including double standards and Islamophobia. She stressed the importance of continued cooperation in international organizations, highlighting the significance of strong bilateral relations in such times.
The Speaker also spoke about cooperation within the framework of TURKPA. She mentioned President Aliyev prioritizing cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States during his swearing-in ceremony address. Aliyev emphasized the importance of the Turkic world as a family and called for collaboration to make TURKPA a powerful player on the global stage. Gafarova concluded by urging parliamentarians to continue working together to further strengthen TURKPA.
