During his speech, Bayramov emphasised the role and importance of the CIS as a platform for a constructive exchange of views and discussion of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told AzVision.az.
The intensive cooperation between Azerbaijan and the CIS countries in such sectors as economy, investment process, trade, transport and communications was stressed.
In particular, the positive dynamics of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the CIS countries in 2023 testifies to the expansion of economic ties.
Bayramov said that Azerbaijan plays the role of a reliable intermediary in transport and logistics sectors between the CIS countries and international markets within the East-West and North-South routes.
He emphasised that Azerbaijan is modernising railways, expanding the potential of the Alat International Trade Port, and developing the Alat Free Economic Zone to further improve these capabilities.
The minister said that the CIS is a successful format for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in such sectors as education, science, culture, healthcare, tourism, youth and sports.
Bayramov informed the meeting participants about the preparatory work for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), expressed confidence that holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan will contribute to the intensification of the transition to green energy within the CIS and the development of cooperation in this sphere.
To recap, Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.
Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit.
The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
