The parliament confirms its full support to the country`s president and the government in connection with the initialing of the association agreement with the EU at Vilnius summit, the statement said.
According to the statement, Georgia believes that the international community, democratic world will strengthen the efforts to support the Eastern Partnership countries and protection of their sovereignty and expresses hope that in the process of Euro-integration, the Eastern Partnership countries will have full freedom of choice," the statement said.
In addition, the parliament calls on the EU to increase and strengthen the helping tools to Eastern Partnership countries so that they would become more democratic and would create more intensive relations among nations. Meanwhile, the majority hopes that the EU will make the ambitious project of Eastern Partnership more effective, flexible and result-oriented.
The majority worked out this statement after the "National Movement" asked the parliament to make a statement on the developments in Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that the parliament rejected the proposal of the minority that demanded to put a clause on the statement about that Russia`s pressure on its neighbors to hinder their Euro-integration is unacceptable. Despite the attempts, the sides couldn`t agree on a single document.
