The first lady of Azerbaijan, chairman of the Islamic Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva spoke at the session:
She thanked President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of all members of the Organizing Committee for the high trust and assured that the Committee will spare no effort for preparing and conduction of the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games at the highest level.
“We will try to justify your high trust and the trust of the Azerbaijani people and hold the
Games at the highest level.”
The first lady stressed that the country had hosted a number of large-scale international events, especially noting the success of the first European Games held this year.
‘All these events showed the power, potential and steering capacities of Azerbaijan. You, as well as the people of Azerbaijan and athletes who took part in the Games and the guests noted that the European Games were prepared at a very high level. Everyone thinks that the Games were prepared on the level of the summer Olympic Games. I am confident that the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games will be held and conducted on the same level and add to history of independent Azerbaijan as one more victory.
‘Certainly, the Organizing Committee gained a broad experience in period of preparation and hosting the first European Games. While preparing for the Islamic Solidarity Games we will work by the same principles. We will try to organize another big sporting festivity for the people of Azerbaijan. All the same, we will try to make all athletes and all guests who come to our country for European Games to feel comfortable and at home here.”
