Orban reportedly supported former Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa for the European Council presidency and chose to abstain from voting on Estonian Prime Minister Kai Kallas as EU diplomacy chief, AzVision.az reports citing Hungarian media.
Media reports assert that Orban adhered to his recent position, arguing that accepting the proposed deal, especially von der Leyen's nomination, would deceive European voters who had favoured right-wing parties in the recent European Parliament elections. Therefore, Orban voted against von der Leyen, supported Costa, and abstained from voting on Kallas' candidacy.
