At least 310 dead in stampede outside Mecca, Saudi Arabia reports
Saudi Civil Defence authorities report at least 310 people have been killed and hundreds more injured in a stampede outside Islam
The incident occurred during the Eid al-Adha (or Feast of Sacrifice) holiday.

Around three million Muslims are believed to be taking part in the Haj pilgrimage, ending at Mecca. Of those, 1.4 million are thought to be foreign nationals.

Authorities believe the stampede was caused by large numbers of people pushing.

It’s the second deadly incident in the area in September. 107 people died when a crane crashed into the Grand Mosque.

The Saudi Civil Defence agency said severe rain contributed to the collapse of the crane.
