Mammadova was selected from over 11,000 candidates across 176 countries. The finalists represent only 30 countries, including Azerbaijan, and were chosen based on their academic achievements, impact on their peers, and contributions to their communities. The evaluation criteria also included creative and innovative approaches and activities as "global citizens."
Past winners of the Global Student Prize have been honored by prominent figures such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Pope Francis.
Mammadova, a graduate of secondary school in Azerbaijan’s Shamkir district, earned her bachelor's degree at UNEC and ADAU universities. She completed her master's studies with honors in France, Germany, and Türkiye and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Diplomacy at the University of Oxford.
Recognized by the University of Denver and the United States Institute of Peace in 2019, and as a McCain Global Leader in 2024, she has served on prestigious advisory boards and committees, including Europe's largest international organization, MitOst e.V., and the Bosch Alumni Network's Global Steering Committee.
Her expertise spans project management, peacebuilding, conflict management, youth empowerment, social entrepreneurship, and education.
