2 Turkish soldiers, 34 PKK militants killed in eastern Turkey
Two Turkish soldiers and 34 outlawed Kurdistan Workers`s Party (PKK) militants were killed in clashes in eastern Turkish province of Sirnak from Thursday to Friday, Turkey`s General Staff headquarters said on Friday.
Two separate PKK attacks took place in Sirnak province, one on Thursday night and the other on early Friday morning, a statement said.

Two Turkish soldiers were killed and nine others, including a village guard, injured in the attacks. The 34 PKK militants were killed in coordinated operations by Turkish security forces in response to the attacks.

Tensions have soared in Turkey during past weeks as the government launched a major military operation against PKK militants, while the latter has kept hitting back.
