Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation was informed about the 15th-century monument “Diri Baba” tomb in Gobustan district, which stands out with its uniqueness in the entire Caucasus region and has been viewed as a sacred site by the people of Azerbaijan for centuries. The tomb was restored in 2022 under the President Ilham Aliyev's instructions. Research was also conducted in the surrounding cemetery and caves, with tourism infrastructure developed around the site.
Leyla Aliyeva also viewed the Kalakhana tombs in Shamakhi. Archeological researches in the tombs were completed in 2022. The researches suggest that the tombs and buildings in the area date back to the 12th century.
Restoration and conservation work on the Kalakhana tombs is currently underway with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, and the Executive Authority of the Shamakhi district.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has also contributed to the restoration of the Shahkhandan tomb, the Pirsaat shrine complex, and other historical, religious, and cultural sites in Shamakhi.
As part of her visit, Leyla Aliyeva met with the family of the late sculptor Samir Kachayev, who was martyred during the April 2016 battles and posthumously awarded the "For Bravery" medal by President Ilham Aliyev.
Leyla Aliyeva also met with residents of different villages in Shamakhi.
