A joint debate on the humanitarian and political response to the migration and refugee crisis in Europe, the challenges for countries of transit, and the urgent need for a real European asylum system will be among highlights of PACE`s autumn session.
The Assembly will elect its Secretary General for the five years to come.
The session will last till October 2.
Now, the the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is Anne Brasseur. Since 2009, Brasseur has been president of The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
In January 2014, she was elected President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe; she received an absolute majority of votes in the first round. On 26 January 2015, she was re-elected for a new mandate of one year.
