Azerbaijan, Albania explore opportunities for development of cooperation

The Speakers of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan and Albania have held discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including economics, trade, tourism, and others.

Azerbaijan's Parliament speaker Sahiba Gafarova and her Albanian counterpart, Elisa Spiropali, met for talks during the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva.

Both parties underscored the friendly and partner status of Azerbaijan and Albania, reiterating their commitment to furthering cooperation in diverse fields.

The speakers expressed satisfaction with the collaborative efforts and mutual support exhibited by the parliaments of the two nations within several international parliamentary organisations. They emphasised that enhancing connections between parliamentary committees and friendship groups will further deepen relations between their legislative bodies.

Gafarova informed her counterpart about preparations for the forthcoming Parliamentary Conference in Baku in November this year, which will be held in the framework of COP29.

She highlighted the significance of joint activities by legislative bodies on multilateral platforms to combat climate change.
