During talks with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, President Tokayev confirmed Kazakhstan's support for facilitating dialogue between the two nations, AzVision.az reports, citing Kazakh media.
The leaders also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade and economics, transport and logistics, agriculture, finance, cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The discussions further encompassed pressing regional and international issues, underscoring Kazakhstan's role as a mediator in fostering peace in the South Caucasus.
Notably, on October 1, Armenia's President Vahagn Khachaturyan said that, a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan might be finalised prior to Baku hosting the UN's COP29 climate conference.
He expressed optimism about the potential timing of a deal, stating, “It would be good to sign it by COP29,” although he cautioned, “let’s not run ahead of time.”
As the negotiations progress, the prospect of a historic peace deal hangs in the balance, with hopes that it could usher in a new era of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
