“Azerbaijan will assume the presidency for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change this year, taking a lead role in global climate processes,” said Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President-Designate and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, during the forum on “Green Financing and Sustainable Development” held in Baku on Friday.
Babayev emphasized that the financial sector will be a major driver of Azerbaijan’s economic development.
“We will not be able to achieve anything without financing. It is clear that financing is at the core of every issue, and expectations from the financial sector are high. We anticipate innovative and diverse proposals from our banks and financial institutions,” he added.
