CoE Committee of Ministers ready to hold discussion on Azykh Cave
Igor Crnadak, Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, presented a report on the structure
Following his speech, Crnadak answered a number of questions from parliamentarians. As for the question “What steps can the Committee of Ministers take toward the suspension of illegal archaeological excavations carried out by Armenia in the Azykh Cave in the occupied Azerbaijani territories?” given by Rafael Huseynov, member of the Azerbaijani delegation, Crnadak said this issue is of great importance, noting that Bosnia and Herzegovina is well aware the political and historical significance of this sensitive issue.

The government and parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina discussed the same problems several times, the FM said, expressing regret that the Committee of Ministers has not yet considered this matter.

Grnadak said the appropriation of the cultural and historical heritage, and conduction of such illegal archaeological studies are unacceptable, adding that each member countries must honor the international conventions. Noting the readiness of the Committee of Ministers to hold discussions on the issue, the FM once again underlined the necessity of continuing and deepening dialogue in all fields to solve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

The Azykh Cave, dating to 700 thousand years ago and considered one of the habitats of European people, is located near the Armenian-occupied Fuzuli town. Armenian invaders have recently turned this place into an arms depot and then a shooting range. Currently, Armenia is conducting illegal archaeological excavations in the Azykh Cave involving foreign scientists as well.
