Ethiopian President: We hope we will achieve our goals in COP29

“There's a significant improvement, not only in terms of action, but also in terms of policy. We have taken significant measures to mitigate the impact of climate change, Taye Atske Selassie, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, said in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

“We believe that we can turn around or reverse the impact of climate disasters. So over the last three years, we have planted 40 billion trees, which has increased our forest coverage from 17.2 to 23.6% and by 2030 the coverage will be 30%. So this is a major, a major initiative by the government.

Our main expectations from the COP is not only commitments, but actual delivery of finance. I know it's always very difficult to get the financing, but hopefully with the political will of leaders, and hopefully that, hopefully that the commitment they have given to the world, particularly, the developed countries, will make it practical,” the President of Ethiopia emphasized.
