Azerbaijan to promote establishment of climate change resilient healthcare systems

Azerbaijan will promote joint efforts to build climate-resilient and low-carbon healthcare systems, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev said as he met Hans Henri Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, on the sidelines of the COP29 event held in Baku, AzVision.az reports, citing the ministry.

Emphasizing the importance of the Global Climate Conference held in Baku, Teymur Musayev noted that Azerbaijan has officially joined the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH) and will serve as a co-organizer of the ATACH for two years:

"As the ATACH co-chair, Azerbaijan will promote joint efforts to build climate-resilient and low-carbon healthcare systems."

Kluge noted that COP29 was organized at a high level in Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan always organizes important international events at the highest level, and COP29 is no exception."

The WHO Regional Director for Europe emphasized the relevance of topics discussed at COP29, noting that the Conference of Parties is an important opportunity for the global community to come together and identify practical solutions.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest.
