Nearly Quarter Million Refugees Arrive in Germany in September
As many as 230,000 refugees from crisis-torn countries have arrived in Germany in the first three full weeks of September, local media reported Tuesday, citing law enforcement sources.
Around 150,000 of the new arrivals – or an estimated two-thirds – were registered in Germany after the country introduced temporary border controls, according to the German tabloid Bild.

The publication estimated the average number of people arriving on German soil between September 5-27 at 10,000 per day. Federal police are said to have registered nearly 30,000 migrants in the last 10 days alone.

Germany expects to accept nearly a million refugees this year, with proponents arguing that Germany’s jobs market is in need of new employees.

This migrant crisis, which has seen over half a million people flee war and poverty in the Middle East and North Africa to seek refuge in Europe, is said to be the worst since World War II.
