WTO General Council reappoints Okonjo-Iweala for second term

The General Council of the World Trade Organization (WTO) has approved the reappointment of Nigeria's Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for a second four-year term as WTO Director-General, which will start next September, the WTO press service reports.

"This decision reflects broad recognition of her exceptional leadership and strategic vision for the future of the WTO," the press service informed.

Okonjo-Iweala took the WTO Director-General’s office in March 2021. She is the first African and the first woman to ever lead the WTO.
