At the event, ADY Chairman's Advisor Emil Mammadov gave a presentation about the Middle Corridor, Azerbaijan's role in developing this corridor, and the expansion of Azerbaijan Railways' regional and international cooperation to increase transit cargo traffic. It was noted that to give greater momentum to the development of the Middle Corridor, ADY this month ensured the dispatch of the first export block train from Azerbaijan to China.
The export block train, consisting of 62 forty-foot containers, will deliver cargo through Kazakhstan to the port of Xi'an, one of China's largest dry ports. By the end of this year, it is planned to send a total of 600 containers of export cargo from Azerbaijan to China.
Additionally, it was emphasized that this year, Baku hosted a consultative meeting of railway administration heads on establishing the International Association "Eurasian Transport Route" with the participation of railway organizations from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Central Asia, and Europe.
The main goal of the new route is to increase cargo traffic by developing the southern wing of the Middle Corridor.
