Speaking at the 15th conference of Turkish ambassadors in Ankara on December 10, Erdogan emphasized the importance of regional stability and peace, AzVision.az reports.
“We hope that the historic opportunity created by the liberation of Karabakh from occupation will lead to the signing of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
The Turkish president highlighted Türkiye's challenging geopolitical landscape, stating, “Türkiye is located in a region full of conflicts and wars.” Despite this, Erdogan affirmed his confidence in Turkish diplomacy, saying, “I am confident that Turkish diplomacy will continue to make efforts to ensure peace and stability in our region.”
Erdogan also underlined the achievements of Türkiye's defense industry, attributing its progress to a strategic decision made during challenging times.
“The decision to develop the domestic military-industrial complex was made in response to the lack of proper support from Ankara's allies,” he recalled. “It is gratifying that today up to 80 percent of Türkiye's needs in defense products are already covered by domestic enterprises,” he added.
Addressing the ongoing crisis in Syria, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye's support for its neighboring country.
“We will continue to provide as much support as possible to our Syrian brothers,” he assured.
Looking ahead, he expressed hope for political change in Syria, stating, “I hope that the new administration in Syria will take into account the interests of all segments of Syrian society.”
