Azerbaijan, Italy explore prospects for cultural cooperation

Azerbaijani Culture Minister Adil Kerimli, currently on a visit to Italy, met with Italian Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli to discuss the development of cultural cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Giuli highlighted Italy's interest in strengthening cultural ties with Azerbaijan and praised the contributions of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the restoration of historical and religious heritage in Italy and the Vatican, AzVision.az reports.

"We highly appreciate the contribution of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and express our gratitude to Azerbaijan," Giuli remarked.

In response, Minister Kerimli expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the significance of the partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy, referencing the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2014.

"Cultural cooperation is evolving between our two countries, especially in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, architecture, and design. Italy's rich experience in restoration, heritage protection, and museum and library management is of great interest to Azerbaijan," Kerimli noted.

He also highlighted the destruction of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage during the Armenian occupation and acknowledged Italy’s role in the restoration of the country’s liberated territories.

The ministers discussed further cooperation in areas such as cultural institution management, organizing musical group tours, and other mutual interests.
