Azerbaijan: Construction of Ahmadbayli-Shusha highway nears completion - VIDEO

The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads is completing the construction of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road.

The existing road is 101 km long, while the new one is 81.7 km. The new road is 19.3 km shorter, AzVision.az reports, citing agency.

The Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road begins from the Hajigabul-Horadiz-Aghband-Zangezur corridor highway and connects the Fuzuli, Khojavand, Khodjaly, and Shusha regions.

For the record, the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, also known as Victory Road, is a significant infrastructure project in Azerbaijan, connecting the cities of Ahmadbayli, Fuzuli, and Shusha. Construction commenced in November 2020, with the aim of facilitating access to the recently liberated territories following the Second Karabakh War.

The road is designed with 4 to 6 lanes, incorporating 194 culverts, 38 underground passages, 11 bridges, 7 tunnels, and 9 viaducts. The total lengths are 1,557 meters for bridges, 1,965 meters for viaducts, and approximately 6,450 meters for tunnels in one direction. The construction includes the installation of 35 crossings intended for animal use and drainage devices to mitigate environmental impact.
