Israel honors the memory of 300,000 Azerbaijanis who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism and is grateful to Azerbaijan for paying tribute to those who died in the Holocaust, outgoing Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek said in a post on X.
The ambassador shared the publication of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day and expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani side.
"Thank you, Azerbaijan, for commemorating this solemn day of remembrance with us. Today, we also honor the memory of the 300,000 Azerbaijanis who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Nazism. With deep respect, we acknowledge Azerbaijan’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that Jews have always been safe and felt at home in this land. We are profoundly grateful for Azerbaijan’s dedication to the principle of “Never Again” and for the enduring friendship between our nations. The kindness and solidarity shown by the people of Azerbaijan towards Israel, especially over the past year, deeply touch our hearts," he said.
