Philippines vows to cut carbon emissions by 70 pct by 2030
Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III approved Thursday the submission to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) the Philippines Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) which identifies the country`s climate change mitigation and adaptation actions.
According to Climate Change Commission Secretary Lucille Sering, under the country`s INDC, the Philippines committed to reduce its carbon emissions by 70 percent by 2030, which will come from the energy, transport, waste, forestry and industry sectors.

These reductions in emissions are conditional and will be pursued if sufficient financial resources, technology development and transfer, and capacity building will be made available to the Philippines after the Paris climate talks in December, she said.

More than 130 countries have already submitted their INDC to the UNFCCC.
