Kazakhstan to provide wagon support to Azerbaijan Railways

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will provide wagon assistance to CJSC Azerbaijan Railways, Secretary General of the International Association Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) Gaidar Abdikerimov said at a meeting of the association in Baku, AzVision.az informs, citing Report news agency.

"Within the framework of today's meeting, issues of organizing the work of the executive body, forming a pool of wagons along the TITR route (Middle Corridor), as well as providing wagon support for Azerbaijani and Georgian railways by Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will be considered," he noted.

In addition, according to him, it is planned to open a representative office of TITR in the Chinese city of Xi'an.

The Middle Corridor connects China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and Europe.

In October 2023, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan signed an agreement to establish a joint railway company Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd. to improve the efficiency of transit transportation. The volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian route in 2024 increased by 62% and reached 4.5 million tons.

It is expected that the measures being implemented to develop the route will increase its throughput capacity to 10 million tons by 2027.
