Kremlin positively assesses Zelenskyy’s readiness for talks

The Kremlin positively assesses Volodymyr Zelenskyy's readiness to sit down at the negotiating table, but there is a problem with his self-imposed ban on talks with Moscow, Russian presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, AzVision.az reports, citing TASS.

"Positively," the spokesman said in response to a question. "The problem is who should sit at the negotiating table. So far there is still a legal ban imposed by the Ukrainian president on talks with the Russian side. That's why, in general, we assess it positively, but there are still nuances that remain unchanged," Peskov pointed out.

US President Donald Trump has said that he had received a letter from Zelenskyy, where he said he was ready for negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The letter was sent a few days after a spat between Trump and Zelenskyy at the White House, as a result of which the US leader said that the head of the Kiev regime was disrespectful and showed unwillingness for a peaceful settlement.

On October 4, 2022, Zelenskyy enacted a decision of the National Security and Defense Council barring negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
