US delegation to visit Greenland as Trump talks of takeover

This week, a high-profile US delegation, led by Usha Vance, will visit Greenland to learn about the island's traditions, amidst ongoing discussions surrounding President Donald Trump's controversial proposal to annex the territory.

The delegation, which also includes White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, will visit the Pituffik Space Base—an American military installation in Greenland. There, they will meet with US military personnel and receive briefings.

Following this, the delegation will join Usha Vance to tour historical landmarks and take part in traditional dog sled races.

Brian Hughes from the White House National Security Council emphasized that the visit is aimed at building partnerships that respect Greenland's right to self-determination while boosting economic cooperation.

Despite President Trump’s plan to annex Greenland, both the Greenlandic and Danish governments have strongly opposed the idea.
