Azerbaijan will be represented at the event by Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President and Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues.
Centred on the theme “Central Asia Facing Global Climate Challenges: Consolidation for Shared Prosperity”, the forum will serve as a landmark platform for promoting dialogue on environmental sustainability, green economic development, and climate resilience.
The event will feature expert panels, plenary sessions, and policy dialogues focusing on key areas such as green transition, water resources management, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
Participants will include leaders from Central Asia (Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan), alongside representatives from the European Union, the United Nations, international financial institutions, and major environmental organizations.
The forum will conclude with the presentation of the Samarkand Climate Forum’s final document – the Regional Concept of “Green” Development. This document will outline a unified regional vision for climate change and reflect international organizations’ approaches to addressing environmental challenges in the region.
