The forum is held within the framework of the first summit between the leaders of the EU and the five countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, together with European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, are representing the EU. The meeting is hosted by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov are also participating in the event.
The two-day climate forum brought together leading experts, politicians, representatives of international organizations and civil society to discuss current issues related to climate change, sustainable development and regional cooperation.
The event promises to be a unique platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices, as well as for developing joint solutions in the field of environmental protection.
A final document will be presented at the end of the forum - the Regional Concept of Green Development, which will form the basis for the formation of a unified regional approach of the Central Asian countries to solving the problems of climate change. This document will outline the approaches of leading international organizations to the environmental challenges of the region.
