Azerbaijan, World Bank explore cooperation prospects

Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance, met with Rolande Pryce, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus and Ivana Fernandes Duarte, Regional Manager of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the South Caucasus, AzVision.az reports.

The meeting explored the current progress of World Bank-financed projects in Azerbaijan, as well as collaboration with IFC and various aspects of the country's economic development strategy.

Noting that the World Bank's Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan has been approved for the next 5 years, Rolande Pryce stated that in line with the Strategy, projects covering numerous areas are planned to be implemented in Azerbaijan. Simultaneously, she stressed that the World Bank could provide its support in advancing fiscal regulations, budget legislation and budget classification, as well as in developing a new draft law on accounting.

Emphasizing that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the cooperation with the World Bank Group, Minister Sahil Babayev reiterated Azerbaijan’s interest in implementing new projects with this financial institution.

The sides hailed the collaboration between the parties.

During the meeting, the pair had a broad exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
