Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of China Lu Mei, the Foreign Ministry told reporters.
Mei presented a copy of his credentials to Bayramov.
The minister congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed various aspects of the Azerbaijan-China strategic partnership, including political, economic, trade, transport and communication, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.
It was emphasized that last year was marked by the adoption of the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and China" and that further efforts to strengthen this partnership remain of great importance. In this regard, the significance of high-level visits and consultation mechanisms was underlined.
The parties noted the wide potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment.
They also discussed cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
It was highlighted that Azerbaijan-China cooperation within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan last year, was commendable.
Ambassador Lu Mei expressed gratitude for the reception and stated that he would spare no effort to contribute to the development of strategic partnership relations during his tenure in Azerbaijan.
