Global South NGO Platform joins Climate Innovation Forum 2025 in London

Ramil Iskandarli, Acting Secretary General of the Global South NGO Platform, participated in the Climate Innovation Forum 2025 held in London on June 25-26. Organized by the London Climate Action Network, the forum took place at the historic Guildhall Palace and brought together over 2,000 representatives from global business, finance, and civil society sectors, AzVision.az reports.

Prominent speakers at the event included Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero; Mukhtar Babayev, COP29 President and Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues; Marina Silva, Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Brazil; Rachel Kyte, UK Special Representative for Climate; Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London; Nigar Arpadarai, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29; and others.

The forum also featured the launch of the publication “Becoming Nature Positive: Transitioning to a Safe and Just Future.” The activities of the Global South NGO Platform were a key focus at the event.

In his address, Ramil Iskandarli emphasized that the Global South must be at the center of nature-based solutions to ensure a just, inclusive, and sustainable future.

“We advocate for large-scale, risk-mitigated financing for nature-based solutions in the Global South. Civil society voices from the Global South must be heard in climate decision-making,” he stated.
