Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers bag gold and bronze medals at Budapest Ranking Series 2025

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers Nihat Mammadli and Murad Ahmadiyev have claimed gold and bronze medals, respectively, at the 2025 Ranking Series held in Budapest, Hungary.

Competing in the 60kg weight category, Nihat Mammadli won the gold medal with an impressive series of victories over South Korea’s Seunghak Kim (9:0), Uzbekistan’s Mehroj Bakhramov (4:0), Serbia’s Georgij Tibilov (3:2), and India’s Sumit Sumit (5:1).

Murad Ahmadiyev, wrestling in the 97kg category, earned the bronze medal after defeating Türkiye’s Abdulkadir Cebi (3:1), Serbia’s Uros Krstin (9:0), Georgia’s Giorgi Katsanashvili (8:0), and Russia’s Ilia Ermolenko (8:4). He fell short in the semifinal against Georgia’s Giorgi Melia (1:5).

Additionally, Azerbaijani wrestlers Ruslan Nurullayev (72kg) and Islam Abbasov (87kg) also secured bronze medals, bringing Azerbaijan’s total medal count at the tournament to four.
