Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia ink Memorandum of Understanding

Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia have signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding.

The memorandum marks an important step in the long-term development of trilateral cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of the western direction of the "North-South" route.

The document envisages harmonization of tariff approaches, formation of a single complex tariff, launch of regular block trains, and improvement of transportation procedures.

The implementation of these mechanisms will allow for the establishment of a more predictable, fast and cost-effective logistics chain among Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran.

The agreement strengthens positions of the sides as reliable participants in international transport corridors and creates favourable conditions for a permanent increase in transit flows in the region.
