An Azerbaijani delegation led by Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is participating in the meeting.
Held at the invitation of Elina Valtonen, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, the event will bring together foreign ministers from 57 OSCE participating countries and 11 partner countries for co-operation.
According to the official OSCE statement, the decision to hold the meetings on December 4-5 in Austria, instead of Finland which holds the organization's chairmanship this year, reflects the commitment to reducing the travel burden on participating States and the OSCE Secretariat, as well as minimizing the environmental impact of the event.
As the OSCE's principal decision-making body, the Ministerial Council offers a key platform for Foreign Ministers to review and address the security situation in the OSCE area, as well as to evaluate the Organization's work in all its fields of activity.
