OSCE chairman-in-office urges Azerbaijan and Armenia to establish direct ties
“I deeply regret about those fierce incidents that still occur in the context of the Karabakh conflict. I share the grief of the families of the deceased”, OSCE chairman-in-office, head of the Federal Department of the Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter said.

“I call on the parties to fully use existing opportunities to establish direct contacts and reduce tensions”, he said, according to Armenpress.

“In general, we support the existing formats, namely the Minsk process on the Karabakh issue”, Burkhalter said.

According to him, Switzerland is not directly involved in the negotiation process on Karabakh settlement but ‘we will assist the work of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’.

“The chairmanship is trying to create favorable environment for the negotiation process and stimulate mutual contacts between the peoples”, he said.
